How to Fish Guide is an unofficial game-guide website. This policy explains how the site handles information when you use it.
Information stored in your browser
The Achievement Tracker stores your progress in your browser's local storage under the key htf:achievement-tracker:v1. It does not require an account and does not sync your progress to our servers. Using the tracker reset control removes only that key. You can also remove it through your browser settings. If local storage is unavailable, the tracker may keep progress temporarily in memory for that browser session.
The site does not currently offer account registration, payments, user uploads, comments, cloud saves, or AI features. Please do not send passwords, financial details, health information, or other sensitive personal information through the Contact page.
Hosting and network information
When you request a page, the services that host, deliver, protect, and measure the site may receive ordinary network and request information. This may include your IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested URL, browser or user-agent information, referrer information, response status, and security signals. This information may be used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, investigate technical problems, maintain security, and produce aggregate traffic measurements.
Analytics
We use self-hosted Plausible Analytics through https://plausible.shipsolo.io to understand aggregate page views and which guide pages are useful. Plausible may process the visited page URL, referrer when available, browser, operating system, device type, and approximate country. The Plausible integration does not use cookies or browser storage for analytics and is not designed to build a persistent cross-site profile.
No site-defined custom analytics events are enabled in this first activation. We do not send the complete Achievement Tracker checklist, which achievements you marked complete, free-text searches, exact Calculator inputs or results, Contact message contents, email addresses, account identifiers, or other custom properties to Plausible.
Plausible measurements are used to understand aggregate traffic, prioritize useful pages, identify broken navigation, and improve the guide. Analytics retention follows the settings of the self-hosted service and our operational needs. You may ask a privacy question through the site's /contact/ page.
Cookies and similar technologies
The site does not use non-essential cookies for analytics. The Achievement Tracker uses local storage only as described above. External services reached through links or the click-to-load video may apply their own storage and privacy practices after you choose to use them.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Ordinary request information may be handled by Cloudflare and other services used to host, deliver, and secure the site. Aggregate traffic measurement is handled by our self-hosted Plausible Analytics service. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, prevent abuse, or respond to a valid legal request.
Retention
Achievement progress remains in your browser until you reset the tracker, clear the site's data, or your browser removes it. Retention periods for hosting, security, and aggregate analytics information depend on the service settings and operational need. Such information should be kept only as long as reasonably necessary for delivery, security, troubleshooting, site improvement, legal compliance, and dispute handling, then deleted or de-identified when reasonably practicable.
Your choices and privacy rights
You can avoid or remove tracker storage by not using the tracker, using its reset control, or clearing site data in your browser. Browser privacy tools or content blockers may also limit analytics requests. Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights such as access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or appeal. You may direct a request through the site's /contact/ page. We may need enough information to understand and verify your request, but you should never send a password or sensitive credential.
Children's privacy
The site is a general-audience game guide and is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information in an exchange with the site, please use the /contact/ page.
External links and video
Links to Steam, the game's publisher, YouTube, or other third parties lead to services with their own privacy practices. The official trailer player is not loaded until you select it. Following a link or loading the player may send ordinary request information to that third party.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site's features, service providers, or legal requirements change. The revised page will show a new date. When required by law, we will provide notice or choices before materially different collection begins.
Contact
Use the site's /contact/ page for privacy questions or requests.
